I ununderstood most of the language used by Gee. He uses a lot of different words for different things, but overall I understood what he meant.
I think I can use some of the things that Gee talking about in my research.
When writing my essay I shall have to use both everyday language as well as specialistic language. This is so everyday readers can understand it as well as be appropriate for the class showing my college level status as well as my knowledge as an English major.
I think I can use Conversations in my research. Conversations usually refer to topics that are debated and usually involve knowledge of this subject that is debated. If one doesn't know about the subject then their interpretation can be different than most. With the research of "crying" in some families crying is not encouraged while others are. There is social /family influences to think of and consider. Just like with Conversations.
